about image

A Community-Driven Conservation Effort

Kirisia Community Forest Association (K-CFA) is a community-led organization formed in 2019 working with Kenya Forest Service (KFS), FAO and local partners to restore the Kirisia water tower, protect biodiversity and create sustainable livelihoods for Samburu communities. Our work includes large-scale tree planting, fire management, community rangers, and alternative livelihood projects such as beekeeping and agroforestry.

Key wins: voluntary relocation of settlers, mass tree-planting campaigns, Important Bird Area (IBA) recognition and strengthened community governance.
