The Kirisia Community Forest Association (K-CFA) was recognized on the global stage for its outstanding community-led efforts in restoring the Kirisia Forest, a critical water tower in Samburu, Kenya. Presented by the FAO Director-General QU Dongyu during the World Food Day celebrations in Rome, this award honored the voluntary relocation of over 10,000 people from the forest, the planting of 150,000+ trees, and the creation of sustainable livelihoods through beekeeping, eco-tourism, and agroforestry.

This milestone positioned KCFA as a global model for peaceful and sustainable forest conservation, biodiversity protection, and community resilience.
